Collision Technologies LLC
Established in 1998
Collision Technologies was started in 1998 offering sales & training on forensic mapping equipment and computer assisted drafting (CAD) programs for Crash & Crime scene investigations.   Participation in a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Shared Technology Program, while with the Maryland State Police Crash Team I had the opportunity to introduce electronic total station & forensic mapping technology to Police Departments.  The NHTSA program provided law enforcement with training in 3D measuring devices (Electronic Total Stations & Data Collectors) and Computer Assisted Drafting (CAD).  To this day I continue to serve the Forensic Mapping needs of the law enforcement community and private companies with sales and training.  Click Here to jump to the Forensic Mapping Page(s).

Accident Analysis and Reconstruction Services

I started my work in the private sector full time in 2009, providing expert crash reconstruction and forensic analysis services in civil and criminal matters for  attorneys and insurance companies.  I have achieved full accreditation as a Traffic Accident Reconstructionist from the Accreditation Commission for Traffic Accident Reconstruction (ACTAR).  Collision Technologies specializes in the investigation & reconstruction of various types of passenger vehicle, commercial motor vehicle and pedestrian crashes. Collision Technologies has access to some of the most state-of-the-art technology available for forensic crash & crime investigations.

My work in the field of accident analysis and reconstruction started in 1991 while assigned to the Maryland State Police (MSP) Easton Barrack.  In 1995 I was appointed to the MSP Crash Team, a full-time statewide crash reconstruction team. While assigned to the Crash Team I investigated high profile collisions and those involving multiple fatalities with the likelihood of vehicular homicide charges being pursued by the local State’s Attorney Office.  Additional, I have assisted in the investigations of non-vehicular homicide scenes, police shootings, industrial accidents and civilian airplane crashes.

In 2006, I was appointed to the position as the MD State Police Accident Reconstruction Program and Fatal Accident Review Coordinator. The coordinator’s position entailed overseeing the State Police statewide Accident Reconstruction program (Investigations and Training) and its Electronic Total Station & CAD program.  Retiring in 2009 after 22 years of service from the Maryland State Police.

Some of the advanced technology that we can offer to our clients:
FARO 3D Laser Scanning; creating color 3D point cloud data
sUAV (Drone) Aerial Mapping and Photography
Electronic Total Station and GPS mapping systems
Crash Data Retrieval (CDR) aka “Black Box” technology by Bosch downloads & analysis
The CDR kit is utilized in the Downloading, Interpretation and Analysis of vehicle data recorders
Commercial Motor Vehicle Engine Control Modules (ECMs) Downloads and Analysis for Crash Data
2D&3D crash animations. The electronic total station, GPS and 3D laser scanners are used for precise collection of 3D measurements of accident scenes, vehicle crush deformation and other incident scenes.  3D laser technology can also assist with 3D modeling & forensic animations, and can be used for demonstrative evidence in litigated cases. Further, my extensive field experience is supported by the highest levels of training. Expert testimony has been provided in local District and Circuit courts.
In addition to ACTAR, memberships in the following professional groups are maintained:
The National Assoc. of Professional Accident Reconstruction Specialists (NAPARS)
International Assoc. For Identification - Chesapeake Bay Div.
The Maryland Assoc. of Traffic Accident Investigators (MDATAI)
Society of Automotive Engineers
International Assoc. Of Forensic & Security Metrology
